Cancer is expensive, and not just financially. The physical, emotional, and spiritual impact of a diagnosis affects the entire family. Meagan's Way Foundation is here to help those experiencing financial difficulty during diagnosis and treatment so patients can focus on the path to recovery.
Meagan's Way Foundation provides temporary financial assistance to patients who reside in Michigan, have been diagnosed with cancer and are currently receiving treatment or have completed treatment in the past 12 months, and who can provide verification of expenses they need assistance for. In addition, we aim to acknowledge and celebrate the medical professionals who provide exemplary patient care with a gentle, compassionate, and human touch. |
Did you know...
This year in Michigan, 60,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer. Of those diagnosed:
- about 380 are children
- 20,000-30,000 will face significant financial difficulty affording the high cost of treatment and recovery
- 18,000 would have made different treatment decisions if they had understood the financial impact of medical debt
- 6,000 will be forced into bankruptcy
- those who experience the highest levels of financial toxicity after a cancer diagnosis are the middle and working class with employer-provided health insurance
